Welcome to my first Artist Spotlight, where we don’t just talk about minis—we celebrate the artists who bring them to life.
Artist Spotlight: David Schneider — Breathing Fire into the Tiefling Oathbreaker

There’s a certain magic that happens when raw resin transforms into a fully realized character. Today, we’re taking a moment to highlight one of those transformations, courtesy of David Schneider.David took on this absolute beast of a model—the Tiefling Oathbreaker from DM Stash—at a staggering 75mm scale. If you’ve ever held a 75mm print, you know: this isn’t just a mini, it’s a centerpiece. The kind of figure that demands attention, both on the shelf and on the table.
Let’s talk about what David nailed:
The Armor Work: David chose a bold gold palette for the heavy armor, instantly giving the Oathbreaker an aura of royalty. The warm metallics catch the light beautifully, giving depth to every spike, plate, and rivet. Paired with the cool teal accents, the color contrast makes the entire figure pop without overwhelming the eye.
The Axe & Details: The weapon—which already screams "boss fight" in the raw sculpt—feels even more menacing with the turquoise shaft and burnished blade edges. David's eye for balance here is sharp: nothing feels out of place or overworked.
The Skin Tones & Expression: Painting monstrous flesh is no easy task, but David's work on the Tiefling’s skin brings it to life. The subtle shading around the eyes, the tension in the snarl, and the cool undertones beneath the warmer facial highlights give this warlord real presence.
The Base: Even the ground the Tiefling Oathbreaker stands on tells a story—a battlefield littered with broken weapons and cracked stone. The dry brushing and washes here add that perfect weathered, war-torn feel.
Why Spotlights Like This MatterSeeing a model come to life in different hands reminds us why we love this hobby. Every artist sees a different story within the same sculpt. David's take on the Tiefling Oathbreaker isn't just a paint job—it's a narrative.
A massive thanks to David Schneider for sharing his work and allowing us to showcase it here. It's an inspiration to painters at every skill level who want to take their minis from tabletop-ready to centerpiece-worthy.If you're ever staring at a gray resin print wondering where to begin, remember—the story is already inside the model. You just have to coax it out.
